How do I pause/resume a customer’s subscription?

As an alternative to canceling a customer’s subscription, you can pause a subscription and resume at a later date.

💡 Tip: Canceled subscriptions are always permanently suspended due to Shopify’s rules around re-authorizing payment methods. However, paused subscriptions can always be resumed.

 

Within the Smartrr app, navigate to Subscriptions in the left-hand menu. You can quickly search for the customer’s subscription by email, name or subscription ID.

 

 

Once you’ve located the subscription you’d like to manage, click on the three dots on the far right-hand side of the page, then click View Subscription Details.

 

 

In the upper right-hand corner click Pause Subscription.

 

While a subscription is paused, you won’t be able to add any additional discount codes. However, you are still able to take a variety of actions including:

 

  • Cancel a customer’s subscription 
  • Add/remove products from a subscription
  • Adjust pricing of items within a subscription 
  • Adjust price of shipping on a subscription
  • Change shipping address

 

A paused subscription can be re-activated at any time by clicking Activate subscription.

 

If your email “Subscription Canceled” is toggled ON in Customer Notifications, your customer will be notified of the subscription order cancelation via email.
